'Five in a Row' Embark on Epic Adventure!
At the beginning of the year, we were humbled to meet the Scottish Rowing team 'Five in a Row', to start working on their mental preparation for their row across the Atlantic Ocean. The team, comprising Ian Baird, Duncan Hughes, Ross McKinney, Fraser Potter and Clive Rooney, will be rowing in 2-hour shifts, 24 hours a day for over a month racing other crews in the 2021 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

Described as 'The World's Toughest Rowing Race', teams row unsupported, carrying all their food and supplies on board, facing up to 40ft waves, sleep deprivation and using a bucket as a toilet.

More people have climbed Everest than rowed an ocean!

It's clearly a huge physical test of endurance and stamina but even more so, a mental test of resilience in the face of danger, claustrophobia and tedium. The team have been working 1:1 with Moonshot Co-Founder, Katie Warriner whilst also studying our online sport psychology course IGNITE.

The team are rowing to raise money for Reverse Rett – a charity dedicated to changing the lives of those suffering with Rett Syndrome; a neurological condition that’s having a profound effect on the family of one of the crew. Find out more about Reverse Rett on the charity page.
